Killiecrankie Picnic Area
The Killiecrankie foreshore is a lovely spot to spend the day, with a complimentary gas BBQ, picnic tables, tank water, and a public restroom. There's also parking for up to 30 cars, making it perfect for group outings. At the southern end of the bay, you'll find Killiecrankie Beach at the end of Killiecrankie Road. Behind the western section of the beach sits a quaint little settlement on the lower slopes. The beach begins near low granite rocks and the sheltered waters around Nobby Rock, then stretches east for about 800 metres to the mouth of Killiecrankie Creek. With soft white sand and a gentle slope, it faces north across the bay. The western corner is usually calm, with clear water over a sandy terrace. Just offshore, about 100 metres out, you can spot rock reefs and seagrass beds. This end of the beach is also a popular launch point for small boats, and you might see a few fishing boats anchored nearby. If you're looking to stay overnight, there's a privately run campsite just a short walk from the beach. To book, give Jude a call on (03) 6359 8464.
