Frank's Cider House and Cafe is located in the idyllic Huon Valley town of Franklin, just 40 minutes’ drive south of Hobart, overlooking the Huon River. Free tastings of Frank's multi award-winning ciders, complement the Huon Valley country style menu full of locally grown produce. Prepare to feast on seasonal delicacies such as smoked salmon from the pristine Huon River, and fresh Tasmanian scallops. Seasonal fruits are the focus of the dessert menu, with cider featured in many dishes such as Frank's famous apple cider scones. Franks Cider is made from apples and pears grown on the Clark family orchard in Franklin where they have been farming since 1836. Naomie Clark-Port, the family's fifth generation apple and pear farmer started making Franks Cider, naming it in honour of her grandfather Frank Clark, which has won National awards and sold Australia wide. Discover the family and region's apple growing history as you wander through their Museum. After lunch take a stroll along the banks of the Huon River and drop into the Wooden Boat Centre or take a cruise along the Huon River.

Located on the banks of the Huon River in Franklin, the Wooden Boat Centre is a community-owned, not-for-profit organisation dedicated to preserving and sharing the traditional craft of wooden boatbuilding. Visitors are invited to step inside a working boatbuilding shed, where the sights, sounds and smells of timber and tools bring maritime heritage to life. Guided tours offer a rare opportunity to see skilled boatbuilders, students and apprentices at work, using traditional techniques passed down through generations. Beyond tours, the centre offers a range of hands-on courses, from short introductory experiences to more in-depth programs, allowing participants to learn practical skills in a unique and immersive environment. The Wooden Boat Centre plays an active role in sustaining Tasmania's maritime heritage by training apprentices, supporting volunteers, and engaging the wider community. Every visit contributes to keeping these skills alive for future generations. Whether a visitor, a curious learner, or someone with a passion for craftsmanship, the Wooden Boat Centre offers an authentic and memorable experience in the heart of the Huon Valley.

Opposite the Huon River, in the centre of Franklin, sits Cinnamon and Cherry Cafe, a Turkish inspired coffee shop and bakery. Serving freshly baked bread and pastries, sweet and savoury. A variety of fruits, nuts, vegetables and herbs are grown on-site, create the dips, salads, pickles, preserves and treats. Saturday breakfast menu includes Turkish inspired poached, scrambled or baked eggs. Turkish Kahve, smooth Sahlep (dried orchid root latte), Ihlamur (linden flower and cinnamon) or fruity fizzy Gazoz all add to the Turkish flavours.
