A GINventure that started on the wild west side shores of the Roaring Forties (sometimes sixties), grew into the bespoke King Island Distillery. 'The Original' King Island Distillery was established in 2014, located on the edge of the heart of the main town, Currie. It is here that Native King Islander Heidi Weitjens (aka Happy Heidi, made on King Island with love) set out to distill the spirit of her home to share with friends. The build-up of GINcitement to release the first King Island gin, called King Island Native, capped with a local seal of love, was GINcredible. As the visionary, founder and artisan distiller, Happy Heidi grew confidence along her journey, starting from designing a lean operation (self funded) to focusing on a strategy of quality over quantity. Just 60 bottles in each distillation, every boutique batch of King Island artisan spirits is consistently a true labour of love. GINfused with the signature 'Happy Heidi' attitude, at 40 degrees South Latitude, each bottle is distilled and filled by hand to GINspire the spirited bounty of King Island. Happy Heidi's King Island Distillery joins the GINtastic fleet of Tasmanian distilleries, offering artisan King Island Gin, Vodka, Whisky, Spirits, Liqueurs and ready to drink Cocktails, handmade with pleasure in every measure, for you to sip on and smile.
